imagination, here we go...

The other day, I started drawing, without looking at anything, or trying to do anything other than what came from my imagination.
This is what emerged.
I called him Dietrich. He's a strange fellow, I know. But I like him.
I used a new sketch and wash pencil., but I haven't tried the wash part yet.
Any advice on drawing from imagination?

30 faces once again!

Yes, another stab at 30 faces in November.
I'm already behind, in posting, but I've worked over the course of 2 days in one drawing. That means I am one behind, so I have to bang out 2 things one of these days. A bit of a challenge with Willik home from school with chicken pox, but I have to get thru it and still manage some art in there.
Anyway, here's a 2b pencil drawing of a lady from our church.

sharon fruit

Just some Sharon fruit on the table this weekend.
My parents were eating, and I was drawing. It looked very "drawable". In portuguese this fruit is called "caqui" (pron. kah-key).

#2 pencil on moleskine

Starbucks grid

I haven't posted for a long time. I finally got back on my scanner, and back on my moleskine, and now I have a few things to post.

This is a grid/comic inspired layout of drawings. I got the idea from a fellow art blogger, and decided to try it. It was fun. I hope to do more of these, but maybe using a bigger sketchbook.

pencil on moleskine

30 faces no.21

Another pencil drawing, this one done with General's ALL pencil (inpired by Onionboy's Stabilo All drawing) on moleskine.
The drawing doesn't have this sepia quality, but all the pictures of the moleskine seem to have this tone with my camera. I like the original as well as this "version".
What is so nice about pencil is the ability to get all the shading and shadows you want.
I found the ALL pencil to be more waxy than I'd expected, but I guess that's what makes it able to write in all surfaces.
My friend looks great, especially with this new look...

30 faces no.2

Here's my 2nd drawing. I did it yesterday, very late, and I only took a photo today. It's drawn with non print purple. I like the texture of the pencil.

By the way, I managed to scan yesterday's drawing, so you can look at it again if you'd like.
